The Saraswati Standing on Swan shows the goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts standing on a swan, or hamsa, which is her sacred vehicle and a symbol of purity, discernment, and the search for truth. The veena, the flowing clothes, and the graceful swan under her feet are all made by hand using the 4,000-year-old lost-wax casting method from West Bengal. First, they are sculpted in beeswax and then cast in warm brass alloy. This idol is 8.5 inches tall and weighs 560 grams.
